Cellnetrix offers secure embedded operating system for Cortus-based M2M and IoT Integrated Circuits

Embedded security software specialist Cellnetrix offers software for sensor network SoCs using Cortus APS processors.
Hamburg, Germany and Montpellier France, 16th November 2015. Cellnetrix, a specialist in secure embedded software, and Cortus, a technology leader in low power, silicon efficient, 32-bit processor IP, announce that the CellSIM secure embedded operating system will be available for Cortus 32-bit APS processor IP cores. CellSIM, already widely deployed in securing SIM/USIMs for telecommunications, will enable the developers of systems-on-chip (SoCs) for IoT and M2M to secure their communication protocols and to securely update their firmware over the network.
“Cortus APS processor cores have been proven in a wide range of IC designs involving sensors, communications and security”, says Vladimir Nagin, CEO of Cellnetrix, “These are the three key ingredients to the new generation of end-point devices for IoT or M2M”.
 “We are very pleased to work with Cellnetrix on embedded security”, says Michael Chapman, CEO and President of Cortus, “Their secure OS providing secure ways of updating embedded firmware as well as securing communication protocols is a key capability for emerging smart applications and complementary to our experience in securing hardware”.
For connected SoCs with higher demands for security, Cellnetrix CellSIM provides a secure mechanism for the remote updating of firmware. Such updates neither affect previously downloaded applications nor their data. In addition it implements a miniature Java virtual machine, which can run on small power-constrained devices such as IoT edge devices, smart cards and wireless sensors.
The Cortus family of APS processors offers a wide choice of computational performance and system complexity for SoCs in IoT, M2M and smart sensor applications. In addition to processor IP, Cortus offers a wide choice of peripherals and SW development tools. To date well over 800 million devices have been manufactured containing Cortus processor cores.
Cellnetrix will be exhibiting at CARTES SECURE CONNEXIONS 2015 from 17th-19th November at Paris Nord Villepinte on stand 4 H 098.

Cellnetrix takes part in CARTES/TRUSTECH 2015 exhibition in Paris

Hamburg, 12th November.

Cellnetrix will participate in CARTES SECURE CONNEXIONS 2015 exhibition taking place in Paris Nord Villepinte Exhibition Centre, September 17th-19th and invites all guests to visit the booth 4 H 098.

In 2015, CARTES SECURE CONNEXIONS, the world leading trade show for Secure Solutions in Payment, Identification and Mobility, is changing its name and becoming TRUSTECH reflecting the evolution of the industry. Combining exhibition, conferences and awards, TRUSTECH is the world’s most ambitious global show dedicated to technological solutions around Trust and Security.
Cellnetrix will showcase its embedded software and hardware products including industry-grade secure embedded operating systems, M2M identity modules, subscription manager platform, related middleware and tools.
-  Full product range of CellSIM secure embedded operating systems
     CellSIM is a secure high-performance embedded operating system targeted for various M2M and IoT applications fully compatible with the most international and industry standards such as ISO, Global platform, 3GPP, ETSI. CellSIM is already ported to various hardware platforms and new platforms are in the roadmap.
- Embedded UICC prototype
Cellnetrix puts at the moment a strong focus on emerging technologies such as Embedded UICC and reprogrammable USIMs, which enable secure provisioning of the profile and activation of network subscriptions directly in mobiles devices without a conventional SIM card. This technology eliminates the requirement for removable pre-personalized SIM cards, which proved to be unreliable for the M2M applications.
A unique feature of Embedded UICC product being developed by the company is a secure mechanism of the remote firmware update. Such an update is not affecting downloaded operator profiles and mobile network access functions. This technology can also be used for wireless sensors and other smart devices with limited performance.
- Machine-to-Machine security elements
Cellnetrix provides different types of M2M device identity modules optionally equipped with additional off-the shelf applications such as Multi IMSI, provisioning, roaming steering, remote monitoring as well as customized applications covering exactly the Partner's needs. Different form factors are available from 4FF SIM to WLCSP with commercial, industrial and automotive qualifications.
- Software stacks for mobile devices
       Software UICC stacks make it possible to implement all required by the standards features in a form of a separate application eliminating the need for a physical SIM card. Currently supported Windows, Android and Embedded Linux operating systems.
     - Prototype subscription manager platform
Cellnetrix is presenting its first implementation of GSMA Remote provisioning architecture for M2M making it possible to download, install, activate and deactivate operator profiles remotely. A live demo will cover main use cases for consumer applications.

The show is a great opportunity to share experience with experts and leading professionals and to be in touch with the latest developments in the semiconductor industry.
We will be pleased to see everyone at our stand.

Cellnetrix releases an advanced version of Multi-IMSI Roaming Application

Cellnetrix has released a new advanced version of the Multi-IMSI Roaming Application (MIRA) already used by several customers world-wide, which has been successfully demonstrated during Mobile World Congress taking place at Fira Gran Via in Barcelona, from March, 2nd until March, 5th 2015.  This year, more than 85,000 attendees from over 200 countries were treated to a wealth of learning and networking opportunities; product showcases and announcements; inspiration and innovation.

Cellnetrix  MIRA application supports 2 main operational profiles: Machine-to-Machine and a configuration for consumer devices providing following features:
·      Provisioning and management of operator subscriptions in a secure way leveraging on the end-to-end (U)SIM OTA security;
·      Secure storage of a subscription including limited operator profile;
·      Selection of a proper subscription driven by business rules downloaded together with a subscription;
·      Steering to preferred networks depending on the selected subscription;
·      Secure peer-to-peer interface with a remote steering OTA platform;
·      Status reporting.
·      Engineering SIM menu is supported to help troubleshoot complex roaming cases and ensure consistent and enjoyable experience for the end users.
·      Pluggable back-ends are supported allowing different SIM vendors to provide abstractions to their proprietary authentication data storage schemes and switching logic.
As a transport bearer Cellnetrix application supports BIP data packet interface, SMS or USSD depending on applet configuration and available data services.
Subscription management features include download, activation, deactivation and secure deletion of the operator profiles. As an option, full network authentication credentials and type of 2G or 3G authentication algorithm can be provided together with a profile.
Fallback to a default subscription ensures that connectivity to a device is not lost even if a new subscription cannot be properly activated. In case the applet configuration does not provide a default subscription, previously activated subscription or first suitable according to selection rules profile will be selected.
Multiple default subscriptions are supported in the case the operator is not able to provide a single subscription for all countries of the world. When a default subscription is activated, the applet can be configured to request a more optimal subscription from the service platform, receive and activate it dynamically.
The new release of the Multi-IMSI Roaming Application marks the next company milestone towards the migration to GSMA Embedded UICC provisioning architecture and its commitment to the truly interoperable solutions not bundled to a specific (U)SIM manufacturer or card configuration.
